How Forge Handles Your Data

Forge is local-first, not offline-only. Your saved history and assistant memory live on your computer, while the messages you ask Forge to answer still reach AI model providers for inference.

Your chat history lives on your computer, not in our cloud. Forge remembers you locally.

What stays on your computer

What reaches AI model providers

When you ask Forge for an answer, Forge connects to AI models through our service. Your current message and the relevant context needed to answer it may be sent to the model provider for inference. What is different from using a model provider directly is that Forge does not host your saved conversation history or assistant memory in a Forge cloud inbox, and we do not sell your data or train models on your conversations.

Connected apps and external channels

If you connect Forge to another service, such as Discord, Slack, email, calendar, or files, that service may separately store messages, files, metadata, or activity according to its own settings and privacy policy. Forge can keep your assistant's local history and memory on your computer, but it cannot control how third-party services retain conversations you choose to send through them.

Retention

Your local saved history and assistant memory stay on your computer until you delete them. Forge account and billing records are retained while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, fraud-prevention, and operational requirements.
